In my previous blog I showed you how the results in your life were created by your own thinking and beliefs, which happily also means that you can change your results by changing your thinking.

Albert Einstein said that we cannot use the same thinking which caused our present reality to create a different reality. I recently heard a saying on the radio (Author Unknown) which goes like this:

Everything we have is within us….we just need a catalyst to bring it out”

I have designed a formula which may be useful to you in serving as a catalyst (at least to some extent) in bringing out what Goethe refers to as the “magic, power and genius within each one of us”. In so doing, I have used the word “INVEST” in the theme of this blog to serve as an acronym, where each letter in the word represents a concept, or portion, of the formula. In this blog, we will discuss the first concept, represented by the “I” in INVEST:

INSPIRATION

Be inspired!

Are you inspired? Can you honestly put your hand up and declare “I am inspired?”

If you find that you are not as inspired as you could be, the reason is usually because you don’t have goals….well, not big goals which excite you. The type of goals which act like a magnet and pull you out of bed in the mornings to go and chase your goals.

PMSJ

Perhaps even more sadly, you may lack life purpose. Everybody should have a Personal Mission Statement (PMS), a written statement which reflects your life purpose. My PMS is 6 words long. Clarity is power. The benefit of having a PMS which reflects your life purpose is that it affords you focus and direction. It helps you set goals which align with your life purpose (and your values)

Get clear on what it is you want.

Bethany Hamilton in Hawaii chose a goal at a very tender age which excited her. She wanted to become a Pro Surfer. At the age of 13, whilst surfing the waves, she was attacked by a shark, and lost her left arm. If you watched U-Tube videos of her today as an adult, you will be amazed at how she paddles out, ducking under the waves as she swims out, then mounts her board with agility to catch the right wave, and, like poetry in motion, glides to shore on top of, and in the tunnel, of those huge Hawaiian waves.

Her goal was so inspiring to her, that even the loss of a limb did not stop her from achieving her goal.

Invest in your potential by writing down your life purpose (if you don’t have one, write down one as close to what you think it should or could be), and then dream of goals that will excite (and even scare) you. Write them down. Then plan how to achieve them. Some of my future blogs will be helpful in this regard as well.

My next blog will discuss the “N” in INVEST:  NO PROBLEMS, ONLY OPPORTUNITIES
